A locavore is a new, friendly species that strives to eat (hence the suffix –vore, as in herbivore or carnivore) only (or mostly) locally-grown food. Thanks Nina. That is helpful... I see that there are a lot of them in Los Angeles. I have heard good things about the Santa Monica Farmers market so I will try that one out. Posting the info here in case anyone else is interested:

Here is a great website that lists all the certified Farmers' Markets in Los Angeles County. It also lists the date, time, and location of all them! I hope this is helpful. I have only been to the ones in Westwood, Santa Monica, and the Grove. All three are pretty nice.
